The first time I met Rod he showed me around the garden at Teign Bank Road and we had a good chat. That was 20 years ago, since then we've talked about philosophy, the environment, politics, books, growing stuff, life in Wales and lots more. He was a brilliant chap and I will miss him. Thanks Rod for being a good friend and father in law!

Rod has been my friend for over 60y; we were friends at Hastings High School & Hinckley Grammar School. I remember that on many Saturdays when we were in our teens Rod, Colin & I would go into Hinckley to Jaques on Castle Street and listen to a few tracks; occasional we would buy a record and play it on Rod’s Dansette. I can remember cycling to Barlestone many times and remember the work Rod did in the garden growing produce and keeping chickens. So, I was well impressed to see what he had done on his Welsh smallholding. Rod has always been an genial person who thinks a lot. So it was no surprise to me that he studied philosophy at Lampeter University and got his degree. He was always good at discussing things and his degree made him even better! Margaret & Rod were in Wales for many years, so I was a bit surprised when they moved back to Hinckley - but not at all surprised that Rod not only had lots of produce on his own garden but had bought land from both of his neighbour to cultivate. Rod was always a good friend to me, and I will miss him.
